Lechon Kawali is of the most popular foods in the Philippines. It is served as a dish for the family, dish for occasions and even in a simple get together inuman session. This Pinoy food is also one of the best seller in the bars and restaurants. The best beverage to be partnered to this food is beer. Yes! Beer is the best partner for this Pinoy food. It's one of the best pulutan ever, but absolutely one of the Pinoy food that have cholesterol. So you guys should eat this moderately.

This pinoy food is best when dipped in a sauce. And the ingredients for this pinoy food is also very easy to find in the market. Wherever you are in the Philippines, you can always find the ingredients for this food. Below is a good recipe for this Pinoy food Lechon Kawali.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs pork liempo (pork belly)
3 garlic cloves, crushed
2 laurel leaves (bay leaves)
1 teaspoon peppercorns or 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
salt
water, for boiling
oil (for frying)

Sauce ingredients:
3 tablespoons soy sauce
5 tablespoons vinegar
1 shallot, minced or 1 small onion, minced
1 garlic clove, minced
chili peppers (optional)

Procedure:
Cut the pork belly into serving pieces then combine with the garlic, peppercorn,laurel leaves, salt and water in a pan.
Bring to a boil and simmer for 35-45 minutes or until skin is tender.
Drain, cool and air dry.
Deep-fry liempo pieces in batches until golden brown and blisters appear on skin.
Mix all the sauce ingredients and serve lechon kawali while it’s hot.
