Pork Nilaga - Pinoy Food

Pork Nilaga is one of the most popular Pinoy dish served in every Filipino family's table everyday. This Pinoy dish is very easy to prepare and the ingredients are also very easy to find. wherever you are in the Philippines, you can cook this delicious Pinoy Food. Pork Nilaga is also one of the oldest dish in the Philippine history of food. When I was a kid, it is already a dish on our menu. And we always eat this Pinoy dish once to twice a week.

Pork nilaga recipe is very easy. However, this Pinoy dish takes a lot of time of cooking because of softening the pork. But if you have a presure cooker, you may use it to shorten the cooking time of the food. Here is the Pinoy recipe of the Pork Nilaga.

Ingredients:

4-5 slices pork hocks (pata, may laman)
250 grams white beans (raw, soak in water overnight)
1 onion, sliced
1 tomato, sliced
1/2 head cabbage
pepper and patis

Procedure.

1. Boil pork hocks and soaked beans (add 1 tsp salt for taste) together on medium heat till tender. Add water as needed. Beans should be very soft and the pork very tender. Soup will be cloudy and a little creamy. Do not forget to remove scum.

2. In a little oil, saute tomatoes, then onions and pork pieces. Cook for another 4-5 mins then add beans and broth. Season with pepper and patis.

3. add sliced cabbage and cook for another 10-15 minutes. Serve hot with rice.
